This will only be an issue if you do not use the same exact SATA data connection that was attached to your former C system drive. There was no issues that required going into the BIOS screen. It was indeed a perfect clone of the previous drive. Then removed the HDD and installed the SSD into the mounting bracket, connected the SSD to the SATA data cable and power cable (I used the same port as the C drive HDD was connected to), powered the PC up and it booted hassle free, with no issues. It would have been much faster has my PC supported SATA 6.0. After formatting the SSD (NTSF), I cloned 232GB to the SSD in just 31 min with a SATA 3.0 to SATA 3.0 connection. And the Data Migrations software works perfectly. Since I was installing the SSD to replace my C System drive, I needed to clone that drive onto the SSD.

The SSD comes with an Installation Guide, which I didn't need other than to follow a web site link provided in order to install the Samsung Data Migration Software and Samsung Magician Software. I reviewed it separately but it's a must have if you are installing into a 5 1/2 inch bay like I was. That was an order option for another 6 bucks. I also got the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket Of course the order came within the two day Prime window which one expects from Amazon. And if I got some enhanced performance, all the better. I have a nearly 9 year old CyberPower desktop with an Asus P6T Motherboard and wanted to eliminate a potential point of failure to eek out a little more longevity. Not worth the hassle for a 6 year old drive, IMO. And I wouldn't bother messing with putting the newly liberated internal DVD drive in a third party case. Also, to retain the ability to play CDs and DVDs (at my desk) occasionally, I picked up an LG external writer/player for like $25 here on Amazon. It will save you time and heartache, and maybe even a trip to the repair shop if you break one of the many small components inside your MacBook.

Pro Tip: a slightly magnetized screw driver is amazingly helpful.
(my primary drive is a 1TB samsung EVO) The install went fine, it fits perfectly, but the whole disassembly/reassembly process is a bit tricky with the miniature screws involved. So I took the plunge on this and installed a Seagate 2TB FireCuda drive as a second, media storage drive. And I don't like traveling/flying with an external drive. I travel a lot, and I've grown tired of limited integrated on-the-go storage for my image and graphics files. Used this item to install a second hard drive in my trusty MacBook Pro 2012 (v9,2). I will definitely buy again as I've already bought probably five of these over the last 2 years and three of them in the last month and they've always worked

I have bought three of these in the last month, I work in it and I have upgraded several clients computers to a dual hard drive system instead of using their DVD superdrive which they never use and these fit perfectly, the review saying that they don't come with the right screws or whatever are totally incorrect, this comes with 4 screws built into the sides with a hard drive goes so you just put the harddrive in the tray and look at the side and you'll see two holes on each side with screws already in them you just have to tighten it up and then install the whole assembly per the instructions, it is a very simple fix /customisation just take your time and be patient when unplugging the wires on your Mac so you don't pull something off the logic board or strip out of screw etcetera if you don't know how to install stuff in a computer have a computer shop do it for you but this upgrade literally takes me about 12 minutes to do every time I've done many of them and these harddrive trays work perfectly as long as you buy them for the correct year Mac which several are compatible.
